Approve the UNESCO Cultural Heritage Batik For Indonesia


Institutions of the United Nations (UN) in charge of cultural issues, UNESCO, has agreed batik indonesia as a cultural heritage object was produced by Indonesia.

The success has been reported by the Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare Aburizal Bakrie to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at a meeting at the presidential palace in Bogor, West Java, on Monday.

According to Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare, the inauguration of the cultural heritage of batik indonesia as an object not of UNESCO will be held at a series of events on September 28, 2009 to October 2, 2009 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

"We have received notification from UNESCO that the batik is recognized as a world heritage resulting from the Indonesian nation," he said.

To celebrate this success, he added, President Yudhoyono appealed to all Indonesian people to wear batik indonesia clothes for the appreciation of the culture of Indonesia.

"The President delivered to maintain it. Menbudpar himself has given a guarantee that the batik industry will continue to be cultivated in Indonesia," he said.

No objects of cultural heritage of humanity is one of three lists under 2003 UNESCO Convention on the Protection of Cultural Heritage Objects Not for Humanity.

Indonesia has become the state party in the convention.

Since 2008, the government has conducted field research and involve the community as well as batik experts in 19 provinces in Indonesia to nominate batik as a cultural heritage of humanity does not object UNESCO.

According to Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare, UNESCO batik rate as the nation's cultural icons that are unique and symbols and a deep philosophy includes the human life cycle.
